DEAR POTENTIAL NEW MEMBER,
On behalf of the Panhellenic Executive Council, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, and over 2,000 Panhellenic women, welcome to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! We are excited for your Tar Heel experience and your interest in becoming a part of our Greek community. Panhellenic is the largest women’s organization on campus, with a long-standing tradition of excellence in academics, sisterhood, philanthropic service, and community involvement. By joining the Panhellenic community, you will gain opportunities for meaningful friendships, leadership development, academic support, professional networking, and personal growth throughout your collegiate experience.
Being a Panhellenic woman means belonging to a diverse and engaged community. Our members are involved across campus in athletics, research, volunteer service, performing arts and countless other organizations. Together, we strive to make a positive impact on the UNC campus, the Chapel Hill community, and beyond.
As the youngest of three siblings, with both of my older siblings attending UNC, I believed I had a clear picture of what my college experience would look like. However, going through Primary Recruitment during my freshman year gave me so much more than I ever expected. Through Panhellenic, I found lifelong friendships, invaluable mentorship, and endless support from fellow members and alumni. All of these experiences have shaped my time at Carolina in the most meaningful ways.
By joining any chapter you become a Panhellenic woman and part of something greater than yourself or any one organization. Through Primary Recruitment, you will have the opportunity to meet women from each of our nine chapters. We encourage you to approach each round with an open mind and give every chapter equal consideration. Each chapter is uniquely special, with a sisterhood eager to share its values and histories with you.
My biggest piece of advice to every one of you is to trust the process and enjoy every moment. College moves quickly, and Primary Recruitment is no exception. Everything happens for a reason, and embrace this experience as a time to discover where you truly belong.
Being a Panhellenic woman has been one of the greatest blessings of my collegiate career and I hope this community brings you the same sense of belonging and fulfillment. We are so excited to welcome you to Carolina and your Panhellenic journey.
Go Heels and Go Panhellenic!
